The Kaw mission tells a story about 50 boiys in this home from 1851-1854. THe place is a tribute to the Kaw tribe who gave Knasas its name. The Kaw tribe lived in the Neosho Valley for about 20 years until the government removed the Kaw tribe in to indian territory of Oklahoma. In this time peroid the americans wanted more land. The indians were forced into the american way and a tradiional way of life. It is a 12 acre National Historical Landmark.
